She sat in the dusty room, tears falling from her azure eyes. She didn't even realise they were falling, until one fell on the picture she was holding. Her heart heaved, and a hand flew to her chest, trying to contain the pain. It did not work. Her face crumpled as she held the photograph close to her chest, as if the figure in the photo could hold her. She could not believe what had happened. I can feel it now, crawling up through my arms, encasing my legs. My mouth is open in a silent scream as it takes over. The transition is only a second long, but it feels like a lifetime.
